Empty Nest: A Memento Mori

This work was inspired by a number of influences/ideas: Masaccio's Holy Trinity, the tradition of Italian Memento Moris (a reminder of death), and my personal thoughts about the cycle of life especially as a female sans children. The border fabric is from my friend Nancy - it's skulls depicted in a great "dollie" motif. The plastic fruit are my favorite part of the piece; cut-up bracelets from a wonderful store in Columbus, Ohio, called the Yankee Trader. It's on High Street, between OSU and downtown. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!!
